There is a place where you can hear the birds all day long, walk out of the house and be surrounded by spectecular nature, go to some of the best restaurants of Portugal and SUP along the cleanest river of Europe and end the day with a BBQ with your loved ones.
This place is called Villa Milfontes. Located in a natural park and to many a paradise.

It’s a perfect house for an amazing holiday with your family. It’s within walking distance of the ocean, the village, and next to one of the most beautiful dunes on earth. The furniture is of high-class as is all the rest of the house. If your dogs behave well they are more than welcome and will love it here too.

Secret Beach
Amazing beach with small waterfall. You won't believe what your seeing. 50 minute walk through the dunes from our house. Ask us the location, as we won't like to share this to the public. PS: This beach is difficult to enter. Be care full and don't go with small kids.
River Beach
Next to the castle and with easy acces a lovely spot to chill. We always go here for a morning swim.

On the other side of the river you find some beautiful beaches. Riverside or Seaside. Oasis is the beachclub you should visit. great food.

One of the more popular beaches around. But don't let that turn you down as it's also very pretty. There is a surfschool and some good waves to be found. If you have a 4x4 you can go through the dunes and have a stunning ride before your beach day starts.

Milfontes has a great diversity of restaurants, bars and such. Here’s some of our favourites. All of them (except Alento and Oasis) are about a 15 to 25 min walk from our house. Besides this selection there are another 40 places to go
Porto das Barcas
A nice 15 min walk and you find a gorgeous restaurant with stunning views. Beautiful sunsets and lovely food. Try the mango ceviche. In the back they have an Ibiza style hangout, great to have an afternoon drink.
Choupana
A traditional wooden restaurant run by 3 brothers. They BBQ their fresh caught fish and the views are beyond beautiful. Especially just before sunset.
18 e Piques
Our favorite lunch/breakfast place in the historic centre. Delicious "tostas" , homemade pies and great other amazing food. Well priced and cozy vibed. Definitely a place to visit.
Stress Free
Lovely place to have Lunch or just drink a coffee. The owners are very friendly.
Riverside
Stunning views over the river, delicious hamburgers, perfectly marinated fries, good mayonaise and open till 2 AM. A good place to get drunk as they have the biggest selection of specialty beers in town.
Ritual
Another favorite of us. Especially as they have a mixed cuisine and there is always things going on. Drink a gin tonic, eat some tapa's or if you are hungry and with 2 take the special steak. Hmmmmm
A Fateixa
A local hotspot at the river. Lovely fish, great views and better priced then some other restaurants on this kind of location. Try the fingerlicking garlic shrimps.
Selina
A phenomenal ambience but a bit overpriced. If you however need some laptop time or like to meet other travelers it's a good place to hangout. They also have cool events, live music and yoga.
Mil Takeaway
Perhaps the smallest restaurant in town, simple, well priced, friendly owner and one of the best pepper steaks around.
Oasis
At the other side of the river. Great Fish and good views of the Village. We quite often go lunch here.
Alento
NEW 2021. A high class restaurant. previously this restaurant was on the other side of the river. Now it's in town and looks good.
Paparoca
Local spot and decently priced. Walk all the way to the roof and you will get an awesome view of the castle and the river. Also good for takeaway.
Patio
One of the best restaurants price/quality wise. You will get delicious food and walk away with more money in your pocket then you expected.
Pao Cafe
Delicious, delicious, delicious. Take a Coffee, order a cake, a sandwich and buy a traditional liquor in the back of the shop. Great spot.
Bar Azul
The main Bar in town. Try.the espresso Martini or the Tequila Sunrise like we did 🤪
Green Island Bar
Like you are in Brazil. Lovely ambience as it's a bar in a glassed house surrounded with palm trees. Good cocktails.

About Milfontes
Vila Nova De Milfontes is a charming Portuguese town located in the heart of the Alentejo region coastline. Situated in the municipality of Odemira (Alentejo), at the mouth of the river Mira, in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Vila Nova de Milfontes is a fishing village with a strong connection to the sea which gives it an unparalleled natural beauty.
Its vast and beautiful deserted beaches, crystal clear waters and golden dunes are the highlight of the region. In contrast to the beautiful coastal panorama, the interior landscape is markedly recognized by the typical Alentejo plains of cork oaks, among other species commonly observed in this region of the country.

The Alentejo coastline has hot summers and winters are mild with little precipitation but can also be unpredictable. The vicinity of the ocean and sea breezes moderates the summertime temperature, but the intense sun will make it feel incredibly hot. During the mid season, don’t forget to always pack a jacket, as it cools down at night. The best period seems to be the spring or Indian summer to come to Vila Nova De Milfontes.Little bit of history
Despite being just a fishing town, Vila Nova de Milfontes its a town full of history increasingly visited by tourists. The construction of São Clemente Fort, also known as Milfontes Castle, was built with the intention of protecting the small fishing village. Because of its proximity to the coast and the ocean it suffered from many pirate attacks during the 16th and 18th centuries. This town is linked to the great feat of Portuguese aviation. Because it was from this place that the first air crossing between Portugal and Macao took place, made by Brito Paes and Sarmento Beires. It was on April 7, 1924 that the pilots left Campo dos Coitos, near Milfontes, heading east. In honor of the airmen and their historical achievement, it was erected in Barbaca Square, next to the fort, a monument that recalls the heroic journey.Forte de São Clemente (Castelo de Vila Nova De Milfontes)
It was built in the late 16th century and from its rocky pedestal you can see almost everything in the city. It served as a defense structure for Vila Nova de Milfontes, especially for maritime commerce, and as a lookout point for the entire bar. In 1939 the fort was restructured and its original layout was altered. S. Clemente Fort belongs to private individuals today.Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Graça
Dating from the early 20th century. XVI, belonged to the Order of Santiago da Espada whose cross is engraved on the main door. The early church could possibly date from the late 19th century. XV, the time that goes back to the holy water sink that still remains inside. The object of much destruction and reconstruction over time, both because it was shaken by the earthquakes that occurred in the country in 1531, and later because it was destroyed by Moorish pirates, has been altered over the centuries. The bell tower dates from the end of the century XIX. At the moment the church retains little of its initial design being to emphasize the facade and the arch of the High Altar little hit by the modernization of the last intervention that suffered in 1959.Ermida de São Bartolomeu
Old hermitage of popular mannerist construction that is currently integrated in the perimeter of the village, dates back to the mid-century. XVI. It is built on an old military building.Igreja Nova
Vila Nova de Milfontes has had a New Church since August 26, 2000. Inaugurated in the Jubilee Year of Christ’s birth. The inner stained glass represents precisely the birth of Jesus Christ. On the front page stands out the Jubilee Year logo with the Latin inscription “Jubilaeum A.D. 2000”. The Church was dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima because in the Diocese of Beja, where you are located. of Milfontes, there was no Parish Church dedicated to it.
